The organisation which strives to be the voice of cancer nursing across the UK is preparing to host its first face-to-face conference since the onset of Covid-19.
UKONS (United Kingdom Oncology Nursing Society) Annual Conference 2022 will focus on ‘Cancer Care in the Digital Age’ and will take place at ICC Belfast on 11 and 12 November.
In an open letter to UKONS members, president Mark Foulkes said: “After an enforced two-year gap UKONS will be particularly pleased to welcome our members, presenters, guests and sponsors to our first face-to-face conference since 2019.
“Of course, our two ‘virtual’ conferences have been successful and well-evaluated but there is no substitute for truly reconnecting with each other after the most challenging of times for cancer nursing.
“The main theme of this year’s conference is ‘Cancer Care in the Digital Age’ and we are tackling head-on some of the big challenges facing oncology nursing as we recover from the pandemic and adjust to new ways of working whilst maintaining quality of care for our patients.”
UKONS members are invited to submit abstracts for posters and oral presentations for the conference on the topics of ‘Supportive Cancer Care in the Digital Age’, ‘Communicating with Patients in Modern Cancer Care’ and ‘The Future of Acute Cancer Care’.
Submissions will be accepted that report original work relating to innovation to improve cancer patient experience and outcomes. The presenter should be involved in the original work.
Prizes will be awarded for the top three poster presentations and there will be a prize for the best abstract by a Young Cancer Nurse or Early Career Nurse.
Abstracts must be submitted by 5pm on Friday, July 29.
