CANC600 Fundamentals of Cancer

  • To provide opportunity for learners to develop learning in approaches to their practice, through critical appreciation of the multi-dimensional impact of cancer and cancer treatments, and the influences that drive contemporary cancer considerations and practice.
  • Develop critical appraisal skills that translate theory to practice associated with the management of cancer relevant to their own practice/care setting.
  • Effective engagement with supported and self-directed study will further develop life- long learning skills relevant to learners’ professional development.
  • Demonstrating achievement of the module’s specific learning outcomes – through the form of 2 written pieces of academic work: a case based critical appraisal of patient management and a personal critical reflection.

Those working in Nursing, Allied Professional or other Health and Social Care environments who provide, or support care for, those who are facing, or living with, a cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Those with appropriate background qualifications to study at Degree Level 6.

NB: Academic Exit points: This module can be taken as a stand-alone CPD, or as a ‘step-up’ approach to continuing with further modules at Masters Level as part of a MSc Level Diploma or Full MSc exit award).
