Oracle Head & Neck Cancer UK has launched its Small Grants Programme, which aims to accelerate research in head and neck cancer with a focus on improving patient outcomes.
The grant has a funding pool of £55,000, which will support one to three innovative research projects that have the potential to translate into clinical practice, benefit patients directly, or lay the groundwork for future large-scale studies.
The scheme aims to encourage a broad spectrum of applications, including those from allied health professionals, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and ensuring that diverse perspectives contribute to advancements in head and neck cancer care.
This initiative is unique in offering flexible funding, ensuring that even smaller projects that may not meet the criteria for larger grants can still secure financial support.
Welcome proposals include, but are not limited to, those that address critical aspects of head and neck cancer:
- Early detection and diagnosis – Identifying new methods to diagnose head and neck cancers at earlier, more treatable stages
- Advancement in treatment approaches – Exploring novel therapies and interventions that can enhance patient outcomes
- Addressing health inequalities – Research targeting disparities in access to care and treatment.
- Enhancing patient experience and quality of life – Projects that focus on improving the day-to-day lives of patients undergoing treatment or in remission.
Oracle Head & Neck Cancer UK will fund up to three projects, with awards being made from the £55,000 total fund. Applications for the grants must be submitted by December 6, 2024, with successful recipients to be announced in February 2025.
Michelle Vickers, Chief Awareness Officer at Oracle Head & Neck Cancer UK says, “As a charity, we’re delighted to be able to offer funding to help support projects that will directly impact patient outcomes. The initiative represents an important opportunity for the whole scientific community to contribute to the race against head and neck cancer.”
